CYRTOCHILUM
SEEDLINGS
We find these grow well with our Odontoglossums, but they
will be happy with 85 °F day temperatures. Night
time
temperatures of 50-55 °F are ideal, but they will tolerate 40 °F if kept dry.
These plants can be grown quite happily outdoors in the milder coastal
regions of California. Many of
these plants throw spectacularly long flower spikes that can be trained around
poles or on trellises, making a unique display.
For color photos of many of these flowers, see AOS Orchids,
January 1998, pp. 48-59, “Spectacular Cyrtochilums” by Howard Liebman, M.D.
